Because your child gets to move out of the passive experience of observation to an active one. For learning music at a young age nothing beats hearing, singing and dancing to it live! Our bodies are our first instruments so let's show our kids how to use them. Go ahead kids and bug out like this little girl….

She's rocking it & this is a great example of kids using their bodies to find the rhythm and the great joy of feeling the total freedom to improvise. Hmm and that guy to the right is not too bad either!

1) Offer your child a variety of musical experiences: Check out live bands, stop and watch street artists, join a music class or a kids drum circle, go to a record store.

My favorite record store here in Los Angeles is Amoeba Music!

2) Give in to repetition. Children LOVE to here their favorite song over & over again. It's developmentally appropriate and helps them learn. So yes – hit the repeat button!
3) Let them choose CD's and give them access to instruments that they can explore independently.

And…if you have some old vinyl LP's bust them out, dust off your turntable and let the kids look at the covers while you're listening. It will make you very happy, I promise Patricia

I LOVE Halloween so I knew I had to write a Halloween song for the Ladybug families ( and me too ) . I wrote this Gypsy/GoGol Bordello inspired diddy in 7/8 to make it fun but educational as well.
